Lorraine is an experienced multicultural dance specialist, and has been teaching for 18 years in over 700 schools throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Herts, Cambs and Lincs.

She trained in ballet, tap and modern dance as a child through to her teens. Later, she progressed to studying many ethnic styles, including Flamenco (Liz Lee), African (Adzido, Peter Badejo), Greek, Indian, Egyptian dance, the latter of which she studied with Suraya Hilal at the Raqs Sharqi school in London, then with Zaza Hassan at the Centre Artistique de ZaZa in Paris. There she gained an advance teaching certificate and joined the dance troupe, 'Ramses', to perform in Egypt, Oman, Morrocco, Bahrein and Europe.

She has also performed with Hossam Ramzy at the Shaw Theatre, London, and assisted with a project for the Talawea Theatre company for their performance of Antony and Cleopatra, the premiere of which was attended by HRH Princess Anne.

She has performed as a solo artist at Park House, Sandringham, Princess Theatre, Hunstanton, on behalf of Amnesty International, Lions Club, Air UK, Radio Broadland, and also with her troupe at Bury St Edmunds Festival and Watton Festival.

She currently teaches at the Oasis Sports and Leisure Club, Pound Lane, Norwich.

 

Lorraine has been teaching with great success in schools for 13 years, focusing on projects in conjuction with the National Curriculum, teaching in over 700 schools and projects outside of that framework, such as:

  • Performing Egyptian Dance at the Forum in Norwich with pupils of Heartsease First School.
  • Multicultural Dance extravaganza for Cambridge Schools Cluster, organised by Kathy Neale.
  • Downs Syndrome drama club, Norwich, performing the Haka at Norwich Arts Centre.
